Doctors

Kathryn L Gorski, D.V.M. and Owner

Dr. Gorski received her undergraduate degree from Simmons College and her Doctorate from Tufts University School of Veterinary Medicine. In addition to traditional medicine, Dr. Gorski has studied acupuncture as a treatment option, particularly for pets with arthritis. Her other areas of special interest include geriatric wellness, feline internal medicine, dentistry and pocket pet care. In her free time, Dr. Gorski enjoys sailing, skiing, running and spending time with family and friends. Her family resides with their two dogs, Jib and Skiff, and two cats, Baby and Moo.

Nicholas H Warendorf, D.V.M. and Owner

Dr. Nick Warendorf received his Bachelor's Degree in Biology from Middlebury College in 1991. He received his veterinary degree in 1996 from Tufts University School of Veterinary Medicine. After graduation, he worked for two years as an associate veterinarian at a busy animal hospital in Brookline, before becoming a part of Old Derby Animal Hospital.

Dr. Warendorf's interests as a veterinarian include: dermatology and allergy treatment, gastro-intestinal diseases, lameness evaluations, and all types of surgery. Most of all, he enjoys developing strong relationships with his clients and their companions through education and caring.

A resident of the south shore, Dr. Warendorf's hobbies include playing tennis, working in the yard, following professional baseball and kayaking on the North River. He also enjoys spending time with his wife Kiersten, their two beautiful children; Jack and Lily, their Shih Tzu, Cassie and a mixed breed dog named Sweetie!

Sam Kimball, D.V.M.

Dr. Kimball received his bachelorís degree in Animal Science from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst, where he lived and worked on the UMass Hadley Farm. He received his veterinary degree at the Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine. Before joining the team at Old Derby, Dr. Kimball completed an internship in small animal medicine and surgery at VCA South Shore Animal Hospital, with an emphasis in emergency care, and then worked for four years in general practice at a small animal hospital in the Metro West area.

Dr. Kimball enjoys all aspects of general practice, helping pets live well, and age gracefully. He has a special interest in dentistry, surgery, and innovations in wound care. Dr. Kimball lives on the South Shore with his wife, young kids and a cast of furry characters. Dr. Kimball is an avid sea-kayaker and aspiring carpenter in his spare time.

Lori Mills, D.V.M.

Dr. Mills received her undergraduate degree from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from Kansas State University College of Veterinary Medicine. She practiced at a small animal hospital in Denver, Colorado for many years prior to relocating to Massachusetts and joining the Old Derby Team. Her veterinary interests include all aspects of general practice, geriatrics, opthalmology and preventive medicine. She strives to augment the human-animal bond by helping pets to feel well. When not at work Dr. Mills is an aspiring yogi and also enjoys hiking, walking on the beach, running, reading, and spending time with her family and the family dog, a black lab, named Endo.

Management

Brian Carlson, Practice Manager

A native of Massachusetts, Brian joined the Old Derby team in June of 2009 and he's happy to be back in Massachusetts close to his family, friends, the ocean and the Red Sox. He received his Bachelor's Degree from the University of Pennsylvania in 2000. After which, life lead him to Boulder, Colorado- where he worked for a multi-site animal hospital as their Practice Manager/Hospital Administrator. Brian, his wife and their daughter share their house with a dog and two cats.

Beth, Office Manager

Beth received her B.A. in English/Speech Communications from Boston College in 1984. She worked with several large retail organizations in management, buying and sales/merchandising before becoming a full time Mom to her three boys in Hingham. Before joining the team at Old Derby as Office Manager, she worked as a professional pet sitter and dog walker specializing in playgroups for larger dogs. She is loved by two yellow labs named Cody and Ollie. They have confirmed her belief that all boys have better manners when they eat right, get plenty of exercise and listen to their mother. She enjoys long walks with her dogs, reading and being with her family.

Technicians

Carrie, CVT

In 1986 Carrie started at Old Derby as a kennel attendant; through the years along with training she became head surgical/dental technician. Carrie spent 3 years at Mt. Ida College where she took veterinary technician classes and has enjoyed continuing her education while working full time. Carrie's special pet interests include: senior care, dentistry, puppy care, client education and weight control. She has five Shih Tzus: Ying-Su, Kai-Ling, Jailee and Peng Yu. Carrie also cares for a three-legged cat, Captain Jack. Some of her time is spent in fostering pets until they are placed in excellent homes. Carrie loves what she does and finds great satisfaction in working with animals.

Monica, CVT

Monica started as a technician at Old Derby Animal Hospital in 1986 after receiving her associate's degree in Animal Science from Becker College. Monica has adopted a three legged cat named Spike. Monica's favorite part of her position at Old Derby is educating clients on how to best care for their pets. She also has a large interest in pet behavior. Monica feels that helping pets fit into the household is a very important part of making a great bond.

Becca, Technician

Becca joined Old Derby Animal Hospital in September 2006 as a veterinary technician. Her experiences include working in New Hampshire for two veterinary practices, one which was an equine practice. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from Franklin Pierce College in 2004. Becca currently owns a herd of animals including horses, cats and dogs. She also shares in the care of several cats with her family. Becca is interested in radiology, internal medicine, and surgery. Outside of the hospital, Becca spends time working in her familyís business of harvesting cranberries.

Lisa M, Technician

A resident of Scituate, Lisa lives with her fiance Andrew and their kitten Taz. Lisa has been working as a technician for 10 years and joined the Old Derby Animal Hospital team in August of 2010. In addition to her technician duties and having a special interest in client education, Lisa also serves as Old Derby Animal Hospital's lead Endoscopy Technician.

Katie, Technician

Katie joined the team at Old Derby in Nov 2010. She received her Bachelor of Science from Wake Forest University and has been working as a veterinary technician for 6 years. A resident of Milton, Katie live with her husband Mark, Doberman Johnny, Cavalier Bella, and Curbie the cat. Katie has a special interest in training and client education.

Ashley, Technician

Ashley joined the Old Derby team in August of 2011 after working for a mobile practice on the South Shore. A technician for several year, she earned a degree from Massasoit College and has training from the Animal Behavior College. Ashley brings her experience and passion for behavior and training to every patient she meets. In her free time, Ashley spends time with her husband and her two boxers.

Receptionists

Lauren, Lead Receptionist

Lauren comes from a legal working background and she is a recent graduate of Suffolk University in Boston. She lives in Norwell with her family, her cat Katie, and her two dogs, Lulu a Lab/Husky mix, and Logan, a Siberian Husky. She enjoys spending time with her friends and family, traveling, and reading.


Debbie, Receptionist

Debbie joined the Old Derby Animal Hospital as a receptionist in May 2006. In addition to being a mother of three wonderful children, she is also the proud owner of 2 mischievous cats Cookie and Flo. She added an energetic German Shepherd named Zena to her animal brood 2 years ago. Debbie's background is varied, ranging from licenses in cosmetology and aesthetics, to owning a successful business with her husband on the South Shore.

Lisa, Receptionist

Lisa started working at Old Derby in September 2007. Before Old Derby, Lisa spent 12 years working in elder care. When not caring for pets in our kennel, Lisa is busy raising three boys and resides in Weymouth. Her hobbies include travel and spending time with family and friends. Lisa's pet family includes 3 dogs, Ellie, Tutt and Bandit and three cats, Sammy, Lucy and Muffin.



Kathe, Receptionist

Kathe came to Old Derby in the summer of 2010 with over 25 years expereince in the veterinary field. After spending most of her time working for a clinic in Shelburne Falls, MA; Kathe now resides in West Bridgewater with her husband, their children and a house full of dogs and cats.

When not working, Kathe enjoys camping, cheering on all Boston's teams and spending time with family and friends.

Sarah, Receptionist

After 5 years working for a local animal hospital, Sarah joined the reception team at Old Derby in May of 2011. Sarah lives locally with her family- people and animal. When not working hard at the office, Sarah can often be found spending time with family and friends and chasing after her new puppy.

Kennel Attendants

Mary Ann, Kennel Attendant

Mary Ann joined the staff in 2007 and is enjoying the challenge of this new experience. Previously the years were spent raising a family, including many dogs both pure and mixed breeds. A widow for many years with four children and five grandchildren all living out of state, she enjoys gardening, cooking and sewing. Also a sports fan she follows baseball, college basketball and especially tennis, which she plays every week. Mary Ann finds being at Old Derby helps to fill the void left by the death of Nikki, a Vizsla, her best friend for twelve years.


Julie C, Kennel Attendant & Receptionist

Julie received her Bachelor of Science degree from Northeastern University in 2004. She worked as a Criminal Investigator before joining Old Derby in March 2009, as a part-time kennel attendant. She currently resides in Weymouth with her husband, Jay. In 2008, Julie and Jay welcomed an adorable yellow Lab, named Athena, to their family. They soon learned how valuable the simple concept of "a tired Lab is a happy Lab" really is! Julie is a frequent pet sitter for family and friends and is excited to part of the Old Derby team. She enjoys time with friends and family, traveling, the Red Sox and taking long walks with her husband and puppy!
